JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Music In The Hole! Grand Teton Music Festival kicks off its summer season on Thursday at 6 p.m. with a free concert of patriotic favorites. The orchestra will perform in the acoustically superb Walk Festival Hall, highlighting Donnie Ray Albert, the baritone who wowed the crowd last summer. If you can’t bring yourself to step inside a concert hall on your day off, the performance will be simulcast on two giant screens at both Teton Village Commons and Snow King Ball Park. Wyoming PBS and Wyoming Public Radio will also simulcast the musical party.

Pre-Fourth of July festivities start today on the Village lawn with free live music including Mandatory Air. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the music with a picnic. Teton Village Association offers free gondola rides from 4:30 p.m. until nightfall. On Thursday the aerial tram will be open late until 7 p.m. The Fourth of July music line up on the Village lawn includes the Jazz Foundation of JH, Grand Teton Music Festival simulcast, and Calle Mambo.

This year’s GTMF concert series launches this weekend with performances of “Summer Rapture” on Friday and Saturday featuring celebrated solo cellist, Alisa Weilerstein, as she shreds the ever-epic Edward Elgar Cello Concerto. In his tradition, Maestro Runnicles will open with a Beethoven Symphony, the bright and lighthearted Symphony No. 4. If that’s a little too easy on the intellect, programming also includes Richard Wagner’s “Tannhauser Overture.”

Locals Rush tickets are $15 available 30 minutes before every concert for anyone with a Wyoming or Idaho I.D.

Music In The Hole, 3 p.m. to nightfall, Thursday. Free. “Summer Rapture,” at 8 p.m., Friday and 6 p.m., Saturday. $54, $10 students. 307-732-1128.
