Jackson, Wyoming – Planet Jackson Hole has confirmed the death of a student yesterday at the Van Vleck home in Jackson. The student was discovered unresponsive last night. Teton Youth and Family Services staff members trained in first aid and CPR were unable to revive the victim.

“This is a terrible tragedy,” TYFS director Sarah Cavallaro said. “We’ve been meeting with the student’s mother and we’ve let her know that we share her grief, and we’re doing whatever we can to support her and other family members.”

The name or gender of the deceased is not known but sources have told The Planet that the student was a 10th grader at Summit High School. The Jackson Police Department is conducting an investigation. They would not release details, nor the name of the student, who was a minor.

Grief counselors are working with staff, students and family members. The death is believed to be suicide.

Planet Jackson Hole will stay with the story as it develops.
