JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Firefighters gained a bit of an upper hand on the Cliff Creek Fire yesterday. The blaze advanced NNW from 6,700 acres to 7,671 total acres. Structure protection in Granite Creek and Bondurant (in case the fire backs up on itself) continues to be the main focus of ground crews.

Cliff_Creek_Fire_Closure Map_2016_07_19_lgTony DeMaster’s Type 2 team has committed 464 personnel in addition to four helicopters and seven engines.

An estimated containment date has been established. Fire officials hope to have the fire 100 percent contained by July 31.

Weather continues to uncooperative with low humidity, high temps and breezy conditions. Closures for Highway 89/191 remain in effect between Stinking Springs and Daniel Junction.
